Crawling and Standing...

Ever since McKayla turned 7 months, she has been pulling herself up to stand! And on occasion, she will let go and try to take a step. Also, she is so much fun to watch crawl. She gets going so fast and looks so little! I love it! She is also basically a pro at crawling to sitting and vice versa and can change directions very quickly :)

7 months old!!

What a month of change and growth!
  • crawling very quickly with direction change
  • pulling up to stand on the furniture
  • wearing size 4 diapers, 9-12 month clothes and size 3 shoe
  • eating 8-9 oz a meal
  • has a morning/night bottle. and 3 meals in between that consist of oatmeal/fruit, veggies, and chicken.
  • sleeps 10-12 hours a night. Wow!! With a morning, afternoon, and evening nap that last anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours.
  • smiles, smiles, smiles all the time. So happy!
  • jumps in the door way jumper. before, just stood.
  • occasionally tries to take a step.
  • words consist of, "mama", "baba", "blah"
  • loves stuffed animals. mainly her piglet.
  • doesnt cry when she wakes up in the morning. just sits and talks with her animals.
We just love this little girl so so much and couldn't be happier with all the progress she has made in the last month. She is showing so much more of her sweet and firey personality and is so smart! You can tell already that she is such a thinker and analyzes everything.

McKayla, mommy and daddy love you with all we have! This month was hard for all of us when we lost your little brother/sister. But someday he/she will come back to us and we will once again be a completed family. Keep growing and learning baby girl!

Baby Caldwell's Story

On october 6, 2009 we were surprised to find out that our lives were going to change for the better. We were going to have another baby! Although it was a big surprise, it was never for one second unwanted. On November 4th, we went in for our routine 8 week ultrasound and were diagnosed with a possible blighted ovum. A blighted ovum is a pregnancy where everything forms normally except for the fetus. So, we waited a week (today) and tried again to be certain that the little one wasn't just hiding. And to our dismay, we have officially lost the pregnancy. So, I was given some medicine to kick start a miscarriage within the next 24-48 hours. And today is the day I have said my good-byes to our little surprise. There is another angel among us...

6 weeks & blissfully unaware

This is what we saw...

....nothing.....just an empty sac

6 months old!!

All I can say is that this girl is a ball of fire! It is so amazing watching her personality really start to develop. You can tell already that she is going to be so much fun and a little dangerous when she gets older. In fact, she already is! She will just look at you and laugh so hard without you prompting her at all. She still loves to be read to and is really talking now. Instead of just vowel sounds, she is saying "baba" and "mama" and "blah". Her favorite sound to make are raspberries. She is now crawling everywhere! Not too quick yet, but getting there. She can go from carwling to sitting and sitting to crawling. And now can roll from back to belly. She is working on her pincer grasp by eating her cereal puffs. And she loves them! Also, we are starting to sippy cup train for the big transition and she is doing pretty well so far. Still wearing size 3 diapers (although I think size 4 is coming soon) and now eating 8 oz every 3 hours and wears size 6-12 month clothes. Goes to bed at 9:30 - 10:30 pm and gets up at about 8:30 am. Takes an hour morning nap at 10:30 am and another 2-3 hour nap around 3 or4 pm. She is just getting so big, I can't believe it!

love that smile!

tries so so hard!

looks adorable while chewing!

purees, purees (part 2)

Batch #2.
I have definitely noticed a change in her taste. She is really starting to like the sweeter purees. She now eats 3-4 puree cubes (1 oz each) and a 4 oz bottle of formula. She is so much fun to feed. After most bites, she says "mmmmm". It's really cute.

Peas:
loved from day 1. Also, really likes to have them with carrots.
Sweet Potatoe: I think this is her new favorite. Always cleans the bowl.
Pear: Likes better when mixed with oatmeal. But will eat alone if she has to.
Acorn Squash: Didnt like much at first , but after a few tries, really likes them now.
Plum: Didnt like hardly at all. Even mixed with oatmeal. Yuck.

5 months old!

Wow! 5 months is definitely a big month for change! Last month, McKayla didnt even try to crawl and now it is all she does. She can get up on all fours and rock back and forth. Every week she gets closer and closer. She can pretty much sit up unassisted now too. And she has the most infectious laugh ever! Too too cute! And she loves to give kisses. They are wet and open mouthed but welcomed all the same. Also, this month was her first time being sick :( Tyler and I were sick too, which led to her getting a left ear infection. She was prescribed antibiotics and did very well with her recovery. She is wearing size 3 diapers and eating 7 oz every 3 hours. I just love this girl to pieces!

Sitting up so well now.

Getting closer to crawling

yes...I consider these as pig tails.

we all got sick this month..poor thing had an infection in her left ear :(

purees, purees (part 1)

Hey! Here is a quick update on how Mckayla is doing with her purees. And by the way, making them is so much easier (and cheaper) than buying the food.

Green beans: Not sure the first time but LOVES them now.
Carrots: I was surprised by this one. She hates them!
Banana puree: Will eat it alone, but not too crazy about it. Likes it in her oatmeal.
Apple sauce: Will eat them, but at first too tart for her liking. Likes them a little better now.
Oatmeal/Rice cereal: Likes them (oatmeal more), but even more with apple or pear juice in it.

I have noticed that she is not too crazy about the sweeter ones yet. So far she eats 2 puree cubes (1 oz each) and 4 oz of formula. Such a good eater!

4 months old!!

STATS:

last app. (2 months)
weight: 12 lb 6 oz (75-90%)
height: 24.5 in (98%)
head: 15 in (25-30%)

4 months
weight: 14 lb 14 oz (75%)
height: 26 in (90%)
head: 15.9 in (25%)

I know I say this every month..BUT..I can't believe she is 4 months old already!! She has changed so much in the past month...Past few weeks even! She is eating 5-7 oz bottles every 3 hours and now eating rice and oatmeal (alternated) 3 times a day. She likes it when you put juice (pear so far) in her cereal and not too crazy about the texture of bananas. The doctor gave us the okay to start on her veggie purees. So, we are starting her on carrots this Saturday. And I am making all of them. She had two shots and an oral yesterday and so far is doing great. She can now stand on her own if holding into something; Still trying to crawl and getting real close; and just in the past few days has really made big strides towards sitting unsupported! She can sit for up to a minute until she starts to fall forward, but then has started to be able to pull back up. She still loves to talk and have conversations with you. One of my favorite things she does now is, when she is tired, she will rub her eyes...It is so sweet. And her and I both love 'mommy-baby' cuddle time. She still spoils us with her sleeping skills. She goes to bed about 10-10:30 pm and gets up at 9-10 am. And most of the time I go and wake her up cause otherwise she pees through her diaper. That's pretty much her update so far. I am just so grateful to have such a sweet and happy baby :) She makes our day every time she smiles. Her next appointment is at 6 months

Too too cute....

3 months old!!

Can you believe it?
McKayla is 3 months old already! she has changed so much in the last month...She can lay on her belly and hold her head up at a 90 degree angle and roll over (just belly to back). She has just started to notice textures and tries so hard to pick things up. She is now an assisted sitter. She loves to sit up on the couch and look at her feet and do legs lifts. She can now hold onto a rattle and shake it. Talks NON STOP and has just started to really laugh. In size 2 diapers and eats 6 oz every 3 hours. She is getting so long! She is now wearing a lot of size 6 month outfits. Has a bedtime now at 9:30 - 10 pm and will get up about 8 am and have a bottle then go back to sleep till almost noon. She is now sleeping in her own room and is doing so well! She will fuss for about 10 minutes then falls asleep. I just cant believe how fast she is growing! time really does fly by in a blink of an eye!!
