McKayla Ann is here!!

on April 11, 2009 at 9:30 am (40w2d) my water broke. I actually didn't know what had happened because it didn't happen the way everyone says it does. I didn't have a big gush. So, I called the doctor and was told to come in. They did the test and it was positive that my water had indeed broken. I was set up in my room with the IV and just waited to finally meet my little girl. Oh, and also, because it was Easter weekend, of course none of my doctors were on call, so I met my doctor the day I delivered. I was so disappointed! About 3 hours into labor, I still hadn't started having contractions so they had to start an IV of pitocin to get things going.

At about 6pm I decided it was time for my epidural but they told me that I might not be able to receive it due to the fact that I wasnt progressing at all yet. But they went ahead and gave it to me anyway. Thank god! So after my epidural I was feeling pretty good. Well, until the nurse forgot to turn me onto my other side and the epidural pooled and I could feel everything on my left side. Ouch! Then about a half hour later i found out that they couldnt increase my medication because I was fully dilated and ready to push. So, after 15 minutes of pushing my little girl was here!! In all her glory, 8lbs 9oz and 21 inches long. She was perfect!

Tyler and I feel so blessed to have such a beautiful and healthy little girl. McKayla, we love you so much! You are my world!
